Proposed MSL realignment

(Tuesday, October 18, 2011)   The athletic directors of the Mid State League, including Grandview's Jim Hall, are hard at work looking at a realignment of the MSL's three divisions, including the addition of three new members - Fairfield Christian, Grove City Christian, and Worthington Christian - to partially replace the six schools that are leaving for the Licking County League - Granville, Heath, Lakewood, Licking Heights, Licking Valley, and Newark Catholic - and one school headed to the Ohio Capital Conference - Canal Winchester.

Following are the four proposals that are currently on the table for the 2013-14 sports seasons.

Jim Hall, in his first year as Grandview's athletic director, is clear about the School District's goals when he addresses these issues. "Grandview Heights will do what is best for our student athletes and the athletic department," he said. "We want to make sure our student athletes can be competitive and successful in all sports."

It is still possible that there may be some movement among the four proposals listed above or that a number of the 20 schools now expressing interest will look for other options, such as the bigger schools seeking admission to the OCC.

There is a League meeting on Wednesday, where the various proposals will receive another reading. It is probable that a final vote will be taken at the League's December meeting. Let us know what you think - go to our Facebook page and comment on the story.
